#AMA AVID MEDIA COMPOSER 8 HOW TO#
\.\src\QtEventsPrivate.cpp:187 _cdecl // Mac2Qt::Private:EventQueueItem::EventQueueItem(void) where // means line-break.Īfter this point I found the 1000 clips post and how to deactivate managed AMA. Till the error message: "Too many events were created // mac2qt_assert:false // Location. and at restart MC began to re-index the AMA Clips as expected. Because the whole linking process took a lot of time I tried this time (step two) not to delete the whole AMA Management Folder but only the *.mdb and *.pmr files. And startup of MC application hung a long time at media stream initialization. But because I didn't really know what the new AMA databases are good for I decided to delete the BINs and started again to link all AMA Clips. First I deleted the whole AMA Management folder and MC started up straight and without problems. I thought that maybe a broken database was renewed which causes the slow startup, so I quit the application and restarted MC again. After 10 minutes MC started up successfully. (sometimes MC crashed at this point) I restarted the application and hung at the media stream initialization. The clips are stored on eSATA connected hard drive, my computer has 64 GB RAM. I am quite sure, that's no problem of resources. But at a certain point post-linking BIN saving went slow. MC startup while the linking process works fine. I was linking a lot of AMA, most of it Sony EX1 or EX3. But of course after finishing the job (mid of november) I'll try to reproduce it.īut maybe I can describe what happens again. So I don't like to provoke any errors to my system.

I think I could reproduce the error, but I am in the middle of editing a documentary in which I need all the AMA Clips. Far above 1000 clips.įortunately you unveil one solution (same link above): open the console and type MANAGEAMA OFF - enter. How Many Chips per project? About 5! The possibility to delete AMA Management Folder from within application when a project is finished - no! That means at the latest after 20/5 = 4 projects this system collapes! In times where the whole internet is indexed by NSA it really should be possible to find smarter solutions for media management. 50 Clips per Chip.ġ000 Clips allowed = 20 Chips.

On a Disc or Chip at least I get about 50 Clips - Everytime the cameraman pushes the red button.

You, dear developer, state, that above 1000 Clips trouble may occur.ġ000 Clips is nothing! What is the target group of your software, what do you expect people are doing with it? Till I got the message: "too many events were created"Īnd I couldn't belive it, what I have found: maybe corrupt database? Maybe, but which of the 2500 I found? I deleted all and yes, media composer started to re-index at a restart. Avid Media Streams Manager initialization takes a lot of time, application crashes. Is there a more inefficient way to manage data? Or more time-consuming?Īfter a short while media composer gets in trouble.
#AMA AVID MEDIA COMPOSER 8 PROFESSIONAL#
After one project finished and starting the next I had about 1.5 GB of data in Public\Documents\Avid Media Composer\AMA Management.Īnd what is stored, what happens? For every (!) clip on a XDCAM Professional Disc or SxS Chip a folder is created, an AAF is created, two database-files are created, furthermore a status-windows about indexing is shown in media composer application. What are you doing, programmers/developers? Are you kidding me?įor every project I use, AMA Media Composer writes stuff on the system drive. I think this is the right place to discuss AMA Managed Media.
